4 out of 5 stars June Nolen author of In Reverse Time   July 10, 2010
June Nolen (southeast)
My daughter bought this TV to replace an older one when the signal changed to digital. The picture quality could be better but for a small TV it's not bad. The sound wavers but that could be the cable company. We thought we wouldn't have to rent a box from our cable company on a digital set but they scrambled everything. So if you're trying to get out of renting a box check with your cable company first.
All in all I would recommend this set if you're not expecting a big screen picture and sound.
The DVD player works very well and is a big plus.
She has also rented movies through Amazon and they look great on the screen.

4 out of 5 stars Great TV   June 23, 2010
John A. Glissmeyer (Washington)
It is a great TV for our bedroom. The sound is quality is good and fills the room. Picture quality is great. It takes 1 - 2 seconds to change the channel. Ours is wall mounted and we wish Sharp provided a little black plastic cover for the mounting tang that sticks out the bottom of the TV. DVD's play fine. We also wish that the remote would let you program in a shortcut or integer channel number for weird channels numbers we get from our cable service for the HD channels. That would be better than having to remember that 110.001 is the CBS HD channel, etc.

5 out of 5 stars Quick Set up - great for bedroom!   June 15, 2010

Very easy setup. Wanted a TV with a DVD player that my wife and I could watch TV and movies in bed. Mounted it to the wall with no problems and have had no problems with it now. Have had it for 6 six weeks and have used the DVD player multiple times with no problems. A great purchase for a great price!

4 out of 5 stars So Far So Good   June 13, 2010
M. Thompson (Mason Neck, VA)
I purchased this TV because of reviews that other similar brands were not loud enough. I am pleased to report that these units are sufficiently loud for any standard bedroom. The picture quality is adequate but not outstanding. I bought four of them and they all worked well out of the box.

It is really too early to tell if this will be a good product. My concerns lies in the functionality over time of the DVD player. I bought several of these to go into beach rentals so I will have a better idea in a year of so.

That being said, so far so good.

3 out of 5 stars Bought for Child's Room   June 8, 2010

We just had a baby a few months ago and wanted a wall mountable TV. With a built-in DVD player, this was supposed to be the perfect TV for the job.

It is extremely lightweight and mounts using an arm very easily. It only takes four screws and has standard mounting holes.

The DVD player is a little loud, loading and unloading DVDs. It is also somewhat slow to read them. That's really no big deal I suppose.

The video quality is nice, especially in HD. It is a little washed out, and requires some dimming of the backlight in the menu to alleviate this issue. Beyond brightness and contrast, this TV has a backlight setting.

My biggest complaint is the all-or-nothing closed captioning. We like to watch the TV with the volume down while we are rocking him to sleep. As a result, we turn on the closed captioning. The button on the remote seems to only work for DVDs with built-in closed captioning. Otherwise, you need to go into the main TV menu, and turn closed captioning on or off, which results in it always being on or off. The button on the remote should take care of closed captioning for both TV viewing and DVD viewing, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Finally, the metal spine that allows you to connect the base stand to the TV (the stand is attached in the photos), does not seem to be removable and as such, we have an ugly piece of metal sticking out of the bottom of the TV. This is entirely unsafe and either ours is jammed by a manufacturing flaw, or this TV has a design issue that doesn't allow you to remove the spine. For us, we have it mounted high enough that the metal spine may not become an issue, but this is still a concern.

Overall, its a good TV, if you can deal with its issues.
