Good value TV, good for PC monitor March 8, 2010

For what I paid, this is an excellent TV/PC monitor. I got this to be my gaming computer monitor and also a small HDTV for the office and so far it has not disappointed. I have played games such as Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock, Company of Heroes, Fallout 3, etc. There is almost no visible tearing. The picture for HD cable is very good. If I had to give a downside it would be that the monitor may be a little dark but I almost never think of this issue.

After owning the unit for about 3 months i have found an answer to some of my initial annoyances.
I now have quite near zero gripes about the TV/monitor. It performs well and its leaps beyond my old sharp and sylvania tube units. Digital is amazing and nothing less would or should satisfy the modern consumer.
The headphone jack while not sounding great through cable TV sounds better through my HTPC's HDMI output. Better yet is a fine quality headphone setup such as porta pros. The speakers acheive a spot in your ears after time and is made up for by the digital optical toslink output.
Picture is good and the monitor setting are awesome. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE" WHEN HOOKING UP THROUGH HDMI FOR YOUR PC THE MONITOR DISPLAY SETTING THAT ARE SO HELPFUL ARE DISABLED.
Excellent Monitor / LCD TV March 3, 2010

My wife prefers to watch TV in the room in our house where we have located our PC. Previously we used Media Center on the PC and often watched TV on our PC. The Samsung T240HD is an excellent device and now with the addition of a cable HD tuner connected, we could not have a better picture. A couple of criticisms from prepurchase reviews we read on Amazon were valid, but note my overall five star rating. The bezel around the LCD does produce a noticeable light reflection and the speakers are not the best I've ever heard. I have connected external speakers and the sound too now is more than satisfactory. I just utilized the external headphone connection on the side to connect my speakers, and did not have to bother with the infrared connection or purchase additional connection capability as mentioned in prior product ratings. Amazon has never failed to fully deliver on each and every one of my product purchases!

There are a lot of good things about this unit- good price with good feature set. I use this as a second monitor- it means that my "desktop" on Windows Vista is spread out over two monitors, giving me a lot of screen. I do most of my computer work on the other monitor so that if I want to I can switch this one to HD TV via my cable tuner.
That all works more or less, but a big problem is that when my two monitors are coming out of screen saver mode, the other monitor comes out almost immediately and this T240HD takes up to a minute. That's a really long time to wait. If it was my primary monitor or only monitor on my computer that would be a huge problem. I'm using the DVI connector and a digital connection to my video card. I don't know if the problem also exists in VGA mode as I haven't bothered to try that.
The screen also though very nice doesn't have as much viewing angle as my other monitor. Probably a good compromise to save on manufacturing cost- this unit is cheap for what it does. Still, when I buy my next monitor some day, I won't buy one of these due to that big fat delay.

Its perfect what more can i say... but the SRS sound feature, not sure how that works, if i need a speaker system that uses it or not cuz it does not work on its own it says when i push the button on the remote "Not Available" so yah, check that out b4 u order one... but its 1080p and its an awesome tv... though when you go lower than it the top of it gets dark which sucks, as it does not support that feature which i cant remember what its called right now but overall its great
