Amazing color reproduction The incredible black reproduction of a Panasonic High-Definition Plasma TV results in impressive contrast and beautiful, natural colors. So you'll get warm, accurate skin tones, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds. For color that's as rich and bold as life itself, look to a Panasonic Plasma TV.
Consistent brightness from any angle A Panasonic Plasma combines anti-glare and anti-reflection technology with the natural light-emitting properties of plasma, to give you a super-wide viewing range with a crisp, beautiful image from almost any angle.
Smooth, graceful motion | When you're watching sports or movies with fast-motion graphics, you want a TV that can keep up with the action. With over 900 lines of moving picture, self-illuminating plasma displays eliminate afterimages in fast-action scenes. So whether you're watching a sporting event or an action-packed movie, you'll always get the most impressive viewing experience possible. |
1,000,000:1 Contrast | The Panasonic's Real Black system (a pre-discharge suppression system) and improved panel production processes combine to reproduce outstanding blacks with superb contrast. Each image is richly expressive, from bright scense, like scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Compare the image produced by conventional HDTV on the left to the Real Black image produced on the right
| More Colors | Viera HDTVs support the xvYCC color profile (Extended YCC Colorimetry for Video Applications), or "x.v. color" for short. Standard RGB color space allows the display of a portion of the colors that are viewable to the human eye. The next generation "xvYCC" color space actually offers an available range of colors that exceeds what human eyes can recognize. - Next-generation "xvYCC" color space supports 1.8 times as many colors as existing HDTV signals
- Lets HDTVs display colors more accurately
- Enables displays with more natural and vivid colors
| Deep Color | Where x.v. color expands the available range of colors your HDTV can display, Deep Color increases the number of colors your HDTV can display within that range, for smoother transitions from color to color. - Lets HDTVs and other displays go from millions of colors to billions of colors
- Eliminates on-screen color banding, for smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations between colors
- Enables increased contrast ratio
- Can represent many times more shades of gray between black and white.

| | 4 HDMI inputs to connect all of your devices directly to your television. | | | | Long Life | Panasonic plasma panels are rated to last 100,000 hours, which is about 30 years of regular or 11 years of non-stop usage before the brightness of the display is halved. | Get Full HD with Blu-Ray Disc Players | A Panasonic 1080p plasma television is able to render 1920x1080 pixels, but standard DVDs have a resolution of just 720x480. Blu-ray discs output true 1080p High-Definition resolution and have a storage capacity ten times greater than standard DVDs, so no pixel gos to waste. | | Screen Size Measured Diagonally | 1080p Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels | Native Contrast Ratio | PC Input | THX Cert | 24p | Speakers | HDMI Inputs | One Sheet of Glass Design | Swivel Base | Shades of Gradation | H.264 Codec | Digital Cinema Color | Studio Reference Mode | Pro Setting Menu | Serial Port | Standard Features | TH-42PX80U | 42 inches | | 15,000:1 | | | | 2 | 3 | | | 4,096 | | | | | | - 480 Hz Sub-field Drive Technology

Horrible experience April 10, 2010 H. Suire Bought this tv in fall of 08 and the P board had to be replaced in Jan 10. It is out of warranty so total cost was $412 to repair. Now there is a 3 inch black vertical line from top to bottom on the left hand side of the screen. Took it back in and the panel now needs to be replaced. Repair man said Panasonic will pay for new panel but not the labor which is $225. I am currently trying to get them to pay for it all since this is the second time in less than 2 years that it needs to be repaired. This is not only the first Panasonic product I have ever bought, it is the first plasma tv I have ever bought. Needless to say, it will definitely be the last!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buyer beware!!! April 3, 2010 D. Mitchell (Japan) I Purchased this TV on 22 Jan 09 for $1600. the quality of the picture is great. the set is also very easy on the eye. great sound and very easy to set up the set. On 1 April 2010 my set did not power up for some unknown reason. the red power on light blinked 10 times, paused and then repeated the cycle continuously and it won't stop doing this. I've tried to unplug it and then plug it back it, unhooked all cables from it then powering it back up an still the same thing. I contacted Panasonic about the problem and because it's out of warranty they said their was nothing they could do. by the way the warranty only last 12mos. when i informed them that online literally hundreds of people have the same problem(blinking red light of death Google it) they brushed me off by telling me their TV's has the lowest failure rate in the industry of only 3%. That statistic had absolutely nothing to do with my $1600 problem so they could have kept that statement to themselves. needless to say i will never purchase another Panasonic TV again until they publicly acknowledge this problem and correct it. DO NOT BUY THIS SET. Most fail a few months after the warranty has expired. Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
Bad luck, perhaps? February 10, 2010 Gregory Eller (Pevely, MO USA) I decided to purchase this set after having read all the positive reviews on it. However, I did not take into consideration that most reviews are written just a short time after a purchase. This was a big mistake on my part. I purchased my tv in November, 2008. Yes, the picture is amazing. However, only 14 months later, and conveniently, 2 months out of warranty, the power panel failed. The cost to replace it is $1900. Needless to say, after only 14 months, the tv is now garbage. There is absolutely no point in paying $1900 to repair something that cost $1100. After having done some thorough research, I learned that certain Panasonics made during a certain time had some bad parts in them. Had I known this before hand, I never would have bought this tv. My only suggestion is to really do your homework before making any purchase, especially buying a new tv.
Ashamed to say it's the best thing I've ever purchased. September 11, 2009 James Myhre I bought this TV last spring and paid $1600, something I'd said I'd never do. Brought it home and set it up and was a little stunned to find out that I needed to upgrade my DirectTV receiver to HD. After all was said and done, it truly is the best thing I've ever purchased. I talked to 2 different salesmen from 2 different major dept. store chains when I was looking. I was set on the LCD from what I had heard. After the "spiel", I asked both salesmen what they owned and they both said "plasma". They explained some stuff about the rate of speed that is captured with the plasma and that they both notice the LCD streaking at times of high action in sporting events. They also did warn me about reflection issues with the plasma and they were right. I have a window at the back of the room on the south side of the house and when the sun shines in, I have to shut the curtains. If I look close (really, really close), I can see the lights in the room reflect off the glass like screen, but the outstanding picture and contrast make it a non-issue for me. I used to occasionally check in to catch the scores of the MN Twins games with my 34 inch Toshiba, now I look forward to coming home and watching the entire games. I'm still paying off the credit card, but haven't sent in a payment yet that hasn't brought satisfaction to mind. I'm salivating waiting for Football season! It's really a great TV....
Awesome TV June 20, 2009 InLoveWithShoes (Oklahoma City) This tv was at least $500 more at the traditional stores (Best Buy, Ultimate Electronics...). We bought it with free shipping and it was delivered by two people with in just a few days of us ordering. It is a great TV!! Beautiful picture!!
