Product Description Toshiba's 19HLV87 only needs a little space on your countertop, desktop, or nightstand. By combining a crisp, clear 19" screen with a built-in DVD player, this TV saves space, reduces cable clutter, and provides a complete DVD viewing system you can easily move from room to room. The 19HLV87 has built-in tuners for receiving standard (analog) and digital over-the-air broadcasts. Enjoy free high-definition programs simply by connecting an antenna. An array of inputs makes it easy to expand your viewing options by plugging in an HD satellite receiver or video game console. There's even a PC input so you can use the 19HLV87 as a computer monitor. If you like to pull video off the Internet, this is one of the first TV/DVD combos we've seen with the ability to play DivX video files. The side-loading DVD player can also play regular music CDs, plus MP3 CD-Rs. The TV's built-in stereo speakers work fine for background listening, and whenever you want to crank up the volume, just connect the audio outputs to your stereo or shelf system. 19" widescreen HDTV (16:10 aspect ratio) built-in digital (ATSC) and analog (NTSC) tuners for over-the-air TV broadcasts (antenna required) built-in QAM cable TV tuner receives unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service required) 1440 x 900 pixels digital comb filter built-in stereo speakers TV/DVD remote control 4 A/V inputs, including: ? 2 composite video ? 1 S-video ? 1 component video (accepts signals up to 1080i) ? 1 HDMI digital audio/video input PC input: analog RGB (D-Sub 15-pin) RF input for antenna/cable signals Energy Star® compliant detachable stand wall-mountable (bracket not included) 20-3/4"W x 15"H x 3-1/2"D (16-7/8"H x 8-1/4"D on stand) DVD Player plays DVD-Video, DVD-R & DVD-RW, Video CD, and DivX® discs plays CD, CD-R & CD-RW, MP3 and WMA CD-R & CD-RW plays digital photo CDs (JPEG) optical digital audio output for Dolby® Digital/DTS®/PCM (DVD only) designed for use with "
Amazon.com Product Description Now you can play your entertainment library on one versatile machine. Since the 19HLV87 has both a DVD player and a 19-inch screen, you won't have to worry about connecting different electronic components in order to watch your favorite program. This convenience is matched only by its smart, stylish design. The Value of LCD TVs Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 19HLV87 is only 3.5 inches deep and weighs less than 20 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens. This screen also has a pixel resolution of 1440 x 900 -- which qualifies it to display 720p HDTV images. A built-in comb filter reduces digital artifacts produced by signal noise, making for more detailed images. Full-Featured DVD Player The 19HLV87 includes an integrated DVD player compatible with several disc formats: DVD Video, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD and DVD-R. This player is also DivX home theater certified, which means it display popular Internet video formats, such as DivX, AVI, and MPEG4. Similarly, MP3 and WMA-encoded music files recorded to disc will play nicely. An interesting feature of this player is Digital Picture Zoom, which allows you to select and magnify an area of either freeze-frame or motion video. Connections The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It is also capable of the following connections: - HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface): 1
- ColorStream HD component video inputs: 1
- S-video: 1
- RF: 1
- PC input: D-sub 15 with L/R audio
- Digital audio out: 1 optical
- Headphone jack: 1
- RCA video inputs: 2 rear
Audio The 19HLV87's bottom-mount speakers deliver stereo sound, but for those with a 5.1 surround sound system, the 19HLV87 outputs Dolby Digital and dts digital audio from the DVD player through an optical port. A front headphone jack allows you to watch TV without disturbing those around you--perfect for late-night viewing. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. Poor choice for trailer December 16, 2009 M. Adams (Southern California) This TV came with our trailer. It looks nice enough (fairly plain), operates easily enough and has decent enough sound. Where it is really bad for us is the vertical angle. If you're in a trailer there is a good chance that it's mounted up high, and with this TV you start to lose quality immediately as your viewing angle drops. The manufacturer doesn't specify viewing angles, I'd be interested to see what they consider this to have. But our TV is up with the cabinets and it's totally unwatchable sitting on any of the seats in the trailer. You either stand or you get up on the top bed to view it. My negative rating is based solely on this feature so if that's not a consideration for you then don't worry about it. The horizontal angle is okay, by the way.
Good Camper TV April 24, 2009 C. Hjort (Farmington, MN) Love my Toshiba TV. Use it in my camper and it works great. Requires a little more juice than I'd prefer but does the job. Speakers seem a little weak when surroundings are loud like when it's raining and you're in a camper with canvas bunks.
nice combo TV May 2, 2008 D. Wilson (Indiana) lite weight and portable. we use it in our RV. Sturdy stand and nice picture. love the slot DVD player. the two combined, really saves space!
well made. we like the dual tuners. nice combo TV!
Locks up and must be unpluged to be reset April 5, 2008 N. Shields 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this unit for a guest room because my mother in law was coming to visit. By the time she came, it was past the 14 day return period for defective product. We only then found out that when changing channels, fast fowarding the CD etc. the unit would lock up and go to a black screen. You couldn't even turn it on or off. The controls on the set or the remote wouldn't work. If you unpluged it for 10 minutes, it would then work till it locked up again. As it was going to be a lot of trouble to send it to Toshiba to fix, I thought I could live with it. It got worse and I finally sent it back. Last night I went to Fedex to pick it up and it worked for a whole 10 minutes before locking up again. This time even unpluging it for over an hour didn't help. In total because it is in the guest room it probably doesn't have 20 hours total use on it.
I purchased it because I wanted a brand name that wouldn't give me trouble and Sony doesn't make small TVs any more. I paid $500. Even when it works the DVD sounds like it is tearing itself to bits and the controls take forever to do something after you push a button.
I now suspect that instead of getting a brand name TV I paid a brand name price for a third world junker with a brand name glued on to it.
It was so new when I got mine that there weren't any warnings on the internet. Now there are a lot of people that have the same problem I have and one guy says he has sent his back twice with no results!!!
